Cristina Bergoglio

Cristina Bergoglio, an Argentinian painter residing in Madrid, develops her latest work around the tango theme. It is an approach that moves between the frozen choreographic image and the personal contribution of a deeply felt sexuality emerging from beneath the clothing, exposing the essence of desire. Cristina Bergoglio's tango is an unequal dance in which the man becomes hands that caress and yearn and she, the woman, is presented as a hieratic goddess offering her body, a dark object of desire, that the man has in his hands yet does not possess.
In the depths of the retina, the bold and darkened stroke, the glances that fail to find each other and the nakedness emerging from the clothes, remotely evokes the works of Ricardo Carpani.
